ORANGETOWN, NY — The Orangeburg Fire Department fought a brush fire on Clausland Mountain in Orangeburg Wednesday. Around 4:51 p.m., Orangetown police received a report of the odor of smoke in the area of Tweed Boulevard on Clausland Mountain. Responding officers found a brush fire on the mountain in the area southwest of Nike Lane. Around 8:15 p.m., firefighters were withdrawn from the area after containing the fire with a fire break and continued monitoring the fire throughout the night. Fire units from the following mutual aid departments responded to assist the Orangeburg Fire Department: <ul><li>Blauvelt Fire Department</li><li>Tappan Fire Department</li><li>Sparkill Fire Department</li><li>Nyack Fire Department</li><li>Pearl River Fire Department</li><li>Rockland County Technical Rescue Team</li><li>Rockland County Parks Department</li></ul>Medical units from the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps and Rockland County Paramedics were on standby.
