Orangeburg FD Fights Clausland Mountain Brush Fire
The fire was eventually contained with a fire break.

ORANGETOWN, NY — The Orangeburg Fire Department fought a brush fire on Clausland Mountain in Orangeburg Wednesday. Around 4:51 p.m., Orangetown police received a report of the odor of smoke in the area of Tweed Boulevard on Clausland Mountain.
Responding officers found a brush fire on the mountain in the area southwest of Nike Lane.
Around 8:15 p.m., firefighters were withdrawn from the area after containing the fire with a fire break and continued monitoring the fire throughout the night.

Fire units from the following mutual aid departments responded to assist the Orangeburg Fire Department:
- Blauvelt Fire Department
- Tappan Fire Department
- Sparkill Fire Department
- Nyack Fire Department
- Pearl River Fire Department
- Rockland County Technical Rescue Team
- Rockland County Parks Department
Medical units from the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps and Rockland County Paramedics were on standby.
