Photo of the Week: It's Turkey Time
Wild turkeys are all over the place. Send us your photos!

There are an estimated 250,000 to 300,000 wild turkeys in New York. Many of them appear to be in office parks and suburban yards!
On our Nyack-Piermont Patch Facebook page, we asked Nyack and Piermont residents to share photos of local wild turkeys strutting their stuff by posting in the comments or by sending them to lanning.taliaferro@patch.com
Here’s a a great one from Bern Cohen, a longtime Nyack resident, who shot this in Harriman State Park. He writes:

I took the attached photos of this Tom Turkey in Harriman State Park. His female brood of seven were on the other side of the fence, so he felt brave.
I crawled to him from 20 feet away. This was not a telephoto lens. He let me get close enough to pet his back feathers. I expected fluffy like a pillow but his back feathers were firm. When he had enough, he stamped his feet hard and tried to bite me but he bit the bread i had in my hand and wanted more. Now he thinks people are made of bread.
