Polar Vortex Shifts Southward: Work Week Weather

Two waves of arctic chill are expected as temps drop 30 degrees. Get the details for Piermont and Nyack.

“A powerful west/northwest wind will howl through the day on Monday. It will drop temperatures over 30 degrees in 24 hours… from near 60° on Sunday afternoon, to near 30° on Monday afternoon,” says Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

The second blast of arctic air will be ushered in by nuisance snow and snow squalls Monday into Tuesday night from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast.

“The polar vortex will shift southward across Canada and set up near Hudson Bay for a several-day stint during the second full week of January,” said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.
