Pre-Trial Hearing a Year after Peggy Nadell was Murdered in Valley Cottage

Her daughter-in-law faces murder and witness-intimidation charges.

It’s been a year since Peggy Nadell was murdered in her Valley Cottage home.

Her daughter-in-law, Diana Nadell, was in court Jan. 21 for a pre-trial hearing.

Authorities say Nadell involved three women, including a niece, in the Jan. 25 slaying conspiracy. One of them helped her stab and beat the 80-year-old widow to death and two created an alibi. Nadell, the wife of Peggy Nadell’s son James, wanted to get her hands on the money her family expected to inherit.

After their arrests, the three co-conspirators rapidly pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

Soon afterward, authorities said, Nadell plotted to intimidate and kill two people cooperating with the prosecution. She faces additional charges for witness tampering and intimidation.

The trial is expected to start in the spring, The Journal News reported. Nadell’s legal bills are being paid by sons from an earlier marriage, according to TJN, and her husband continues to support her.
