Rabies in West Nyack: Clarkstown Police Issue Warning

A skunk and two raccoons have tested positive in the same neighborhood.

A month after a skunk tested positive for rabies, two raccoons have now tested positive in the same area of Van Houten Fields, West Nyack, Clarkstown police report.

Residents should use caution when their pets are outside. Supervision is encouraged. Please don’t feed stray cats; if a rabid animal eats from the same bowl these strays eat from, the saliva of the rabid animal could be on the food—which now exposes these strays to rabies.

If residents believe they have a rabid animal in their yard please call the Clarkstown Police at (845) 639-5800.
