Raising Funds For Family Of Mom Killed In Christmas Eve Hit & Run
A sister started a GoFundMe campaign seeking $10,000 to help support the children and defray funeral costs.

STONY POINT, NY — Maria Osai was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Stony Point on Christmas Eve. Now her sister is trying to raise $10,000 for the funeral and her her son and two daughters.
"Like most families we were ready to celebrate Christmas, but unfortunately the cold hands of death unexpectedly took my sister," said Mimi Gonzalez on GoFundMe. As of Dec. 30, almost half of her fundraising goal had been raised.
Osai, 35, was described as a good person loved by all.

"Unfortunately we are left to deal with funeral and burial arrangements but with her sudden passing, it is not an easy feat," Gonzalez said. "Please help honor my sister’s life and give her a befitting burial, and help support the children that she left behind."
The hit-and-run took place at Route 9W and Filors Lane at around 5 p.m., police said.

Police alleged the driver of the car that hit Osai and left was Jorge Flores-Villalba, a Haverstraw resident who does not have a license. Flores-Villalba currently faces a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a felony. He is due back in court Jan. 9.
