Hudson Valley AMC Theater Showing Prince's 'Purple Rain'

AMC is bringing the movie -- a pop classic -- back into 87 theaters, and one of them is at the Palisades Center.

This weekend, many landmarks mark the passing of a music legend. One of them will be in selected theaters.

And one of those is near you.

The song for which Prince, found dead at 57 at his famed Paisley Park music studios on Thursday, is most famous is also the title of the movie that catapulted him to stardom and made rock-and-roll history, "Purple Rain."

Whether you saw it or not in 1984 -- or maybe only know the song from Prince's stunning live version at the SuperBowl -- it's worth sitting in a theater for the full effect.

And you have that chance from Saturday through Thursday. AMC has made a deal with Warner Bros. to bring the cult classic back to theaters, in commemoration of Prince's life, his music and his legend.

Semi-autobiographical as far as the plot is concerned, it is really all Prince -- from the '80s ambience to the stunning sexuality to the iconic soundtrack.

The AMC Palisades 21 theater at the Palisades Center is one of the 87 on the list. Showings start Saturday at 4:25 and 7:25 p.m.
