Roger Street Friedman Hits the Hudson Valley
Long Island singer-songwriter and his band looks forward to sharing music with new listeners

Sea Cliff, NY singer, songwriter and activist Roger Street Friedman toured the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, and headlined the legendary My Father’s Place in Roslyn, NY this spring. Now, he’s hitting the Hudson Valley with performances starting Saturday night at the Clearwater Festival, which is in Croton-on-Hudson and is the country’s oldest and largest annual music and environmental celebration, and at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale, NY, in August.
Catch Friedman live right here in a more intimate setting at The Turning Point in Piermont on July 25 with his full band—(Frank Ferrara-guitar, Matt Schneider-bass, Jim Toscano-drums and Steve Uh-fiddle/keyboards).
“The band and I are very much looking forward to sharing our music with new audiences in the beautiful Hudson Valley,” said Friedman.

The shows will include tracks from Friedman’s forthcoming third album including his most recent single, “Sun Never Sets,” which is based on his grandfather’s solo journey from Eastern Europe in 1907 at the age of 13. Friedman wrote the song in support of all immigrants past, present and future and is using it to raise awareness of groups that provide support to them. The song, and the accompanying video, seek to make the point that we are a nation of immigrants and that is what makes us a great nation.
“If the attitudes that exist today toward immigrants and refugees existed [in 1907], my family, and many others, would not be proud Americans today,” explained Friedman.

Folk and Americana greats Peter Yarrow, Tom Chapin, Guy Davis and Joel Rafael were thrilled to lend their voices to the song. Yarrow says of the song, “every note sung re-confirms our commitment to pursuing our collective dreams for a fairer and more just society… and is yet another act of creating greater hope and peace in the world.”
Like Friedman, Chapin, Davis and Rafael are also on the Clearwater line up, set to perform alongside such acts as Mavis Staples, Ani DiFranco and The Lone Bellow. Chapin will be at The Turning Point on July 21.
Tickets for Friedman’s show at The Turning Point on July 25 are $15 and are available at https://store.turningpointtickets.com/index.php/roger-street-friedman.html.
