UPDATE: @nymetrowx reports that the area of strongest rotation was north of Croton-on-Hudson and just passed south of Peekskill.


The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a Tornado Warning for Northern Westchester County and Rockland County until 445 PM EDT.

At 412 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Pomona, or 7 miles northwest of Haverstraw, moving east at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Tornado.
SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.
