Storm Lingers: Tornado Watch For Hudson Valley This Evening

• Bedford around 505 PM EDT.
• Greenwich around 510 PM EDT.

UPDATE: @nymetrowx reports that the area of strongest rotation was north of Croton-on-Hudson and just passed south of Peekskill.

The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a Tornado Warning for Northern Westchester County and Rockland County until 445 PM EDT.

At 412 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Pomona, or 7 miles northwest of Haverstraw, moving east at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Tornado.
SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.
IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

Instructions:
TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

The National Weather Service also warns a strong thunderstorm will affect southeastern Orange County, Rockland County, southern Putnam County and northern Westchester.

At 359 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Harriman, or near Monroe, moving east at 25 mph.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
