Some Scams Are Local: Piermont Police
After this business owner's experience, police urge all residents to be aware that scams can happen to anyone.

PIERMONT, NY — A Piermont resident walked into the Piermont Police Department April 10 to file a complaint about possible fraudulent activity. A local business owner, she had received a check in the mail for $3,350, she told officers.
At about the same time she received an email from the check-writer saying the business had been overpaid by $2,500 and should send that amount back.
Investigation is ongoing, Piermont police said on Facebook; meanwhile it appears to be a fraudulent check for the suspect to gain compensation.
