Stunning Reversal on Pesticide Use At Piermont Landing
Joint statement issued today limiting future weed and insect control to organic methods
The Piermont Village Board and the Piermont Landing Homeowners Association Board announced today that all future applications of products meant to control weeds and insects on Piermont Landing shall be organic.
The decision was made one week after the Village Board's meeting of July 13th, at which numerous Landing residents and others presented their objections to the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides on the Pier--a declared "Critical Environmental Area."
The announcement is a huge relief for the people that live on the Pier, as well as for visitors to it. It means that they can continue to enjoy the extraordinary beauty of the area because it will remain environmentally safe and free from harmful chemicals.
