Thruway Lane Closures Overnight Sept. 11, 14-18
Sensors are being installed for the temporary electronic toll system.

Construction of the project’s temporary all-electronic toll collection system in Rockland County is continuing with the installation of roadway sensors during the week of Sept. 14.
“Following a series of tests this fall, the system will be activated in spring 2016, enabling motorists to pay their toll while maintaining highway speeds. Like the Model-T and the 8-track tape player, the inconvenience of stopping or slowing down to pay a toll soon will be a thing of the past,” the New NY Bridge Team posted.
When the temporary all-electronic toll system goes into service, the Tarrytown plaza will be closed and a new, permanent AETC gantry will be built in its location.
