Tractor-Trailer Fire On The Thruway Snarls Mario Cuomo Bridge Traffic: NYSP

SOUTH NYACK, NY — New York State Police are currently at the scene of a tractor-trailer fire on the southbound Thruway, in the village of South Nyack, right before the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.

Police say the right lane is closed, which is leading to significant traffic delays in the area. Drivers are advised to avoid the area, if possible.

A NYSP investigation found that a Costco tractor-trailer initially experienced a brake fire which caused the vehicle to become fully engulfed. No injuries have been reported.

The fire has been extinguished and authorities are continuing to clear the scene. However, significant delays are still taking place.
