Traffic Shift Coming For Thruway In South Nyack
Overnight southbound/eastbound Thruway lane and ramp closures on Wednesday and River Road work on Thursday.

NYACK, NY — Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC will realign southbound/eastbound traffic lanes on the New York State Thruway near Exit 10 during the overnight of Wednesday, April 12. The lanes will be shifted approximately 30 feet south, allowing TZC to safely accomplish drainage work in the area and prepare for future operations. The new alignment is anticipated to remain throughout the year.
In other nearby work, the installation of permanent maintenance trestle materials near the Rockland landing will require a northbound lane closure of River Road in South Nyack. The closure is anticipated to occur on Thursday, April 13, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Flag persons will keep traffic moving by alternating the directional flow between north and south. To ensure the public’s safety, traffic may be held up to 15 minutes in both directions as workers offload materials between the hours of 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
The lane-shifting operation will also necessitate closing the southbound/eastbound Thruway exit 10 on-ramp from South Broadway and Cornelison Avenue during the overnight of Wednesday, April 12. Motorists will be directed to use the on-ramp from Route 59 in Nyack, as shown in the graphic below. The on-ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday, April 13. The exit 10 off-ramp will remain accessible from the northbound Thruway.
