UPDATE: Tug Captain Dies in Tough Conditions on the Hudson River
Marine units and emergency crews responded to a 911 call from both sides of the river Monday night.

A tugboat captain died last night despite efforts from both sides of the Hudson River.
The man was identified as Edward T. Smith, 50, of Norwalk, Conn., the Rockland County Sheriff's Office told The Journal News.
He was the captain of the Pilgrim, a tugboat for Tappan Zee Constructors, the company building the new bridge over the Tappan Zee, TJN reported.

Emergency responders from both sides of the Hudson River were part of a massive effort in tough conditions on Monday night.
The captain of a tugboat went into cardiac arrest, according to Orange and Rockland Fire.
EMS units were standing by on both sides of the river, and according to Rockland Fires the person was brought ashore at the Tilcon Plant in Haverstraw.
Around 10:30 PM last night, the Croton-on-Hudson FD was called to assist with an unusual incident on the Hudson River....
