Stephen grew up in Rockland County, and his passion for community service began early in life when he would help mitigate the effects of food insecurity with his church youth group, as well as participate in other volunteer efforts. After graduating from the University at Buffalo in 2007, Stephen began a fulfilling career in government working for a number of local legislators. After graduating with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Pace University, he moved over to the non-profit sector and began by working at the Legal Aid Society of Rockland County.

Stephen spent six years at Meals on Wheels of Rockland, where he significantly expanded their connections with various healthcare providers in the region. As healthcare providers became more and more interested in the agency, Stephen also spearheaded the efforts to adjust the program structures in both the Home Delivered Meals program and Senior Activity Centers to meet the needs of healthcare providers and address the Social Determinants of Health.
