UPPER NYACK, NY — Upper Nyack turns 150 in September of 2022 and the village is beginning a year-long sesquicentennial celebration on Saturday with a "Countdown to 150" community gathering at River Hook.

The Hester Haring Cason Preserve seemed the best place to kick things off because as Mayor Karen Tarapata told Patch in June, "it has become the green heart of the community." Upper Nyack bought the 12-acre parcel as a public preserve and community gathering place., and Friends of River Hook was formed in early 2020. SEE: Bringing River Hook To Life

Saturday's event steps off from the entrance at 11 a.m. as Tarapata will lead a walk from the gate to the Haring House, past the newly opened sculpture path.
