Rockland Among NY Counties with Lowest Unemployment Rate

Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties have some of the lowest unemployment rates in New York State.
The tri-county unemployment rate last month was 4.7 percent—down from 5.3 percent a year ago. The state’s unemployment rate as of November was 5.9 percent, according to the New York State Labor Department.

The state’s private sector job count increased by 97,700 from November 2013 to November 2014. In November 2014, the number of private sector jobs in the state was 7,608,700. The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 6.0 percent to 5.9 percent in November 2014, its lowest level since September 2008.
