What Was Your Favorite Hilltop Dish? Or Memory?
Paying tribute to a 60-year-old tradition

Nyack's long-time Italian eatery is being demolished this month to . Read about the restaurant's history , and tell us what your favorite dish and/or memory was in the comments section.
Here's what other had to say:
- My husband loved the veal shank; although he was a big eater, he could never finish it! We only moved to Nyack in 1996, but we did get to eat at the Hilltop until it closed—usually twice a month.
- I loved the baked clams the best!
- My favorite thing at Hilltop as a kid was the stuffed artichokes. I'll never forget the day I brought my own daughter for her first Hilltop artichoke and the place was closed. It was very sad.
- The portions were always huge at the Hilltop... visiting family members who we took there to eat never complained that they didn't get enough to eat!
- I loved Hilltop's shrimp scampi.
- I grew up eating at the Hilltop almost every night. Sonny made the best clams over pasta as a lunch special; I still know the whole menu by heart. My mother and I ordered lobsters-to-go in a snowstorm and had a taxi pick them up for us! The best food and people ever! My families' home-away-from-home.
- Nobody did stuffed artichokes better than Hilltop. If it was late, like after a movie, we'd call to reserve a few before they were gone—artichokes, not seats.
- I ate there the night before my Desert Storm deployment. Moving up from the boroughs, it was the closest thing to my mom's Italian cooking in the area.
- When I was little my family would go there almost every Sunday for lunch after church. An open meatball sub, a burger or a double-order of clams posillipo were my favorites.
