Work Week Weather: Looking Better

There are still a few days where the National Weather Service predicts that showers and thunderstorms are possible in Piermont and Nyack.

The forecast for this upcoming work week has definitely improved over the past few days.

Initially, the National Weather Service was predicting a chance of showers and thunderstorms for every day this week, but now the stormy weather seems contained primarily to just two days, Tuesday and Wednesday.

“Originally it appeared that we would have the chance at some strong to severe thunderstorms, as the humidity was expected to build once again,” said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. “But as can often happen with 5 day forecasts, things have changed. It now appears that the jet stream will dip a bit further south than first projected… meaning that the heat and humidity should be to our south, along with the storm track. So the threat of severe weather now looks primarily located south of the Hudson Valley…”

The details: Monday’s weather looks good for Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties. However, expect clouds and cooler on Tuesday, and Wednesday’s outlook is unsettled.

“Drier and less humid air will attempt to work into the Northeast for a day or two later in the week, but will likely not hang around for long,” said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski.
