Work Week Weather: More Like July than May

“Now we begin a week of unsettled weather,” says Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. “The instability and thunderstorm threat should increase each day… so in addition to the heat and humidity that is more typical of July instead of May… we’ll also have to dodge T-storms as we move through the week. ”

Just how hot will it be?

According to AccuWeather Meteorologist Ben Noll, “Daily high temperatures will be 10-20 degrees above normal on Tuesday and Wednesday in many places [of the Northeast] as the humidity rises.”

Here is the National Weather Service’s 4-day forecast for Rockland County:

• Today-Partly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
• Tonight-Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the mid 60s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
• Wednesday-Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms... Mainly in the afternoon. Patchy fog in the morning. Highs in the lower 80s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Wednesday Night-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 60s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Thursday-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 80s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
• Thursday Night-Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Lows in the mid 60s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
• Friday-Mostly cloudy in the morning...then becoming partly sunny. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs around 80. Chance of rain 30 percent.
