Police Say Man Stuffed Two Purses Down His Pants

The Yonkers resident faces several charges.

Clarkstown Police responded to Macys located in the Palisades Mall in West Nyack for a report of shoplifting the evening of April 18.

A lloss prevention employee is alleged to have seen a man take two purses and place them in his pants. As he left the store, the store employee, a 30-year-old West Nyack resident, tried to stop him. A struggle ensued.

The suspect was apprehended by responding patrol units.

He was identified as Karl Davis, 50, of Yonkers. Davis was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. The merchandise was valued at $746. He was charged with robbery 3rd (felony), petit larceny (misdemeanor), criminal possession of stolen property 5th (misdemeanor) and harassment 2nd (violation). Davis was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court.

There was no injury to the employee.
