Opening Reception for Hartwick X SUNY Oneonta Student Show (wordpress.com) β An upcoming student art exhibition is bringing Hartwick and SUNY Oneonta talent together at CANO's Wilber Mansion in downtown Oneonta, with a reception on October 2 and works on view through October 23. Local residents can see multidisciplinary pieces by scholarship winners and senior art majors, and also catch the show during UNITY Fest on October 16.

Oneonta, Cooperstown dominate in boys soccer (cnhi.com) β Oneonta High School's boys soccer team exploded for an 8β2 home win over Owego Apalachin, with Luca Rubin and teammates piling up goals and assists at Lloyd F. Baker Field. The Yellowjackets also narrowly dropped a golf match to Norwich at Oneonta Country Club, and now look ahead to key STAC contests in both sports later this week.

Susquehanna ADK Hiking Club Fall Hikes, Monthly Meeting (the-reporter.net) β Outdoor enthusiasts in and around Oneonta can join the Susquehanna Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club for easy Tuesday hikes and a more challenging Saturday series this fall. Monthly potluck meetings are held at Elm Park United Methodist Church on Chestnut Street in Oneonta, with several October hikes planned across Otsego and nearby counties.

Reading 30 years of Otsego Lake history, one zooplankton at a time (eurekalert.org) β Long-term research on Otsego Lake's tiny zooplankton, shared through SUNY Oneonta's Biological Field Station, is revealing how climate and environmental pressures are reshaping this key local water body. A SUNY Cobleskill student helped analyze 30 years of data, presented findings to Oneonta-based scientists and stakeholders, and contributed to the field station's annual report.
