34-Year-Old Man Gets 15 Years For Sexually Abusing Child In Ossining

The abuse at the hands of the Mahopac man started when the child was 10 years old and continued for nearly three years.

OSSINING, NY — A Hudson Valley man will go to prison for horrific crimes against a child.

Mahopac resident Segundo Loja-Mayancela, 34, was sentenced on Tuesday to 15 years in prison, with 15 years of post-release supervision, for engaging in sexual conduct with a child over a nearly three-year period.

Between January 2017 and October 2019, Loja-Mayancela subjected the child to sexual intercourse and other sex acts on "multiple" occasions in the Village of Ossining. The sexual abuse began when the victim was just 10 years old.

The Ossining Police Department arrested Loja-Mayancela on May 20, following an investigation, with assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.

On September 13, Loja-Mayancela entered a guilty plea to felony course of sexual conduct against a child. He will be required to register as a sex offender after completing his prison sentence.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Charlotte Gudis of the Special Prosecutions Division.
