For the first time, we are hosting a Lower Hudson Valley Lights of Hope event to bring hope home, right here in our community. ACS CAN volunteers, joined by health care partners including Northwell, Westchester Medical Center, Open Door and the Cancer Support Team, will gather on September 22, 2026 for a program at 6:30pm to recognize the impact of cancer on our communities.
The display will be at the Westchester Landing of the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, and the bridge will be lit in blue that night in honor of cancer advocacy.
ACS CAN (American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network) is the advocacy arm of the American Cancer Society. ACS CAN engages volunteers across the country to make their voices heard and share their personal stories to ensure that our cities, our states and our nation adopt evidence-based policies that improve the lives of people with cancer and their families. We work to change public policy to end cancer as we know it for everyone.
Lights of Hope is ACS CAN's annual signature event that brings together cancer survivors, caregivers, advocates, and supporters from across the country to honor those whose lives have been touched by cancer and to remember those we have lost. Each light displayed represents a powerful story and serves as a visible reminder of the critical importance of continued progress in the fight against cancer.
