OSSINING, NY — Catherine Borgia, chair of the Westchester County Board of Legislators and an Ossining resident, has been appointed to the Women's Leadership Council of the New York State Association of Counties.

Borgia has also been appointed to NYSAC's standing committees on Children with Special Needs and on Public Health & Mental Health.

NYSAC’s standing committees play an important role in helping the organization shape policies and positions on legislative issues for counties across the state. Its Women’s Leadership Council is the only statewide organization that offers resources specifically for women in county government.

"NYSAC is a powerful organization that does outstanding work advocating for New York's counties. It also provides an effective, non-partisan platform for county lawmakers from across the state to work cooperatively on issues that are important to all of us," Borgia said in a statement. "It's an honor to be asked to serve on committees that advocate for policies that impact lives — whether that's advocating for early intervention services for children with special needs, or working on providing the necessary mental health resources for New Yorkers as we emerge from the COVID pandemic. And I'm so honored to be joining the Women's Advisory Council. From our Governor to our Attorney General to our State Senate Majority Leader to our leadership at the Westchester Board of Legislators, women are increasingly playing a leadership role in New York, and I'm looking forward to working with NYSAC to continue supporting women in office in New York's counties."

NYSAC is holding its annual Legislative Conference in Albany this week.
