Ossining's Brookside Elementary will celebrate inclusion and diversity within the school community from December 4-8.

Ossining School District’s Brookside Elementary is proud to announce its participation in Inclusive Schools Week from December 4th to 8th, a celebration dedicated to promoting inclusion and diversity within the school community.
Throughout the week, Brookside Elementary will engage students and staff in a series of interactive and educational activities, fostering a sense of unity and understanding. Here's a glimpse of the exciting events planned:

Presentation for Classroom Teachers: An informative presentation will be available for classroom teachers to enhance their understanding of inclusive practices.
Virtual Bookshelf: Explore a curated virtual bookshelf, promoting diverse and inclusive literature for all ages.

Practice Song Chorus for the Parade: Students are encouraged to practice the parade song chorus daily or enjoy it during snack time.
Daily Events:
Monday - "Orange You Glad We Are Together?!" Day: Everyone is invited to wear orange to symbolize unity. Morning announcements will feature the OT/PT Zoom link for a virtual sensory path at 9:05.
Tuesday - Everyone Counts Day: Wear clothing with numbers on it. Participate in the "Orange We Unique?" Chain activity, creating a class chain of orange links to showcase individual uniqueness.
Wednesday - Sock Day: Wear your favorite socks with patterns or colors. Engage in the creation of class rainbows, capturing the diversity within classrooms.
Thursday - "We Are KIND of a Big Deal!" Day: Show kindness by wearing "Kindness" gear. Morning announcements will include a Social Workers Zoom link for a Kindness pledge at 9:05.
Friday - Unity Day: Culminating the week with an Inclusivity Parade starting at 9:30. Students are encouraged to wear Ossining gear, following the parade route to celebrate unity within the school community.
Brookside Elementary School believes in creating an environment where every student feels valued and included. By celebrating Inclusive Schools Week, the school aims to reinforce the importance of diversity, kindness, and acceptance.
