Hudson Line Delays Stretch Through Tuesday Evening

Metro-North reports seasonal problems on the tracks.

UPDATE: 5:28 p.m.: Delays of up to 15 minutes will continue on the Hudson Line through the Tuesday evening commute, Metro-North announced.


UPDATE 11:58 a.m.: Metro-North reported slip-slide delays persisting on the Hudson Line. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes.


Hudson Line customers should anticipate delays of 5-10 minutes due to what Metro-North calls "slip-slide" conditions.

In October, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced the beginning of the leaf-fighting season when crews spray water jets to get rid of slimy leaf debris.

Fallen leaves that land on the running rails of the tracks are run over by trains and get compacted by the trains' weight and crushed into a substance that reduces adhesion train wheels have on the rails.
