Coping With Deer In Westchester County

The League of Women Voters of the Rivertowns is pleased to partner with the Federated Conservationists of Westchester County, Hudson River Audubon Society, and Teatown Lake Reservation to address deer overpopulation in Westchester County.

The forum will take place on Sunday, March 8 at 3PM in the lecture hall of the main building of Mercy College, 555 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry, NY.

Speakers include: Dr. Mike Rubbo, Director of Conservation Science, Teatown Lake Reservation, who will address environmental impacts of deer overpopulation, Mayor of Hastings-on-Hudson Peter Swiderski, who will discuss the political and practical aspects of the deer immuno-contraception program initiated in Hastings as well as other control measures considered by his administration, and Ms. Melissa Shandroff, who will be joined by her A.P. Science students from Hastings-on-Hudson High School to present their experimental study of the effects of deer in Hillside Woods.

The forum is free and open to all who are interested.
