Croton-on-Hudson Everyday Hero: 7th Grader Jessica Goetchius

Jessica created a sock drive as a way to give back to the community after her family lost their house to a fire right before Christmas.

  • “Jessica started a sock drive for the homeless last year when she was 12 as a way to give back to the community that has given so much to her family after losing their house to a fire one week before Christmas 2009. She is collecting new socks, hats, gloves, undergarments, pajamas, slippers and toiletries for the Jan Peek House. This year she has added Kid’s Kloset to the collection drive.”

  • “I feel Jessica is an Everyday Hero because she took this on out of compassion for others. She believes that everyone deserves the right to feel equal, no matter what their circumstances. We are very proud of her.”
