There are plenty of upcoming chances to help tend to our democracy close to the roots — for one thing, Briarcliff and Pleasantville have their village elections Tuesday.
Also, several public meetings are scheduled for this week that affect Briarcliff and Pleasantville.

Tuesday
The Briarcliff Village Election is for the offices of Mayor and two Trustees. Vote at the William J. Vescio Community Center, 1 Library Road, between the hours of 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

Pleasantville's election is for two Board of Trustee seats and Village Justice. Polls are open will be from 6am to 9pm.

- Pleasantville Recreation Center (48 Marble Ave): Village District #14 & 20

Briarcliff Environmental Advisory Council, 8 p.m.
Pleasantville Planning Commission/Board of Architectural Review, 8 p.m. The former Girl Scout property on Red Oak Lane continues to be on the agenda.
Thursday
Briarcliff Board of Education, 7 p.m., Briarcliff Middle School theater
