Croton100 Aims To Reduce Community's Carbon Footprint

A new environmental group will host a launch celebration Feb. 29 at Croton-Harmon High School.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — A new environmental group in Croton will host a launch celebration Feb. 29 at Croton-Harmon High School. Croton100 wants to bring residents, businesses, government, and community organizations together with the goal of reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2040.

The event, set for 10 a.m. to noon, will introduce the Croton100 Carbon Playbook app, a collection of actions that will lower household carbon emissions.

The playbook app provides an individualized way for households to quantify their progress.

Participants are encouraged to make a commitment to lower carbon use by 5 percent each year.

Croton100 was created to educate, encourage awareness, and provide support for what organizers called "the essential process of transitioning to carbon neutrality."
