Croton's Evening Rush Hour Nightmare Due To Power Line Fire
If you were down the dead-end section of South Riverside Avenue, it was a long wait.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Shoppers and exercise buffs were trapped at the ShopRite Center for more than an hour Thursday evening after a high-voltage line caught on fire at South Riverside and Croton Point avenues. The fire was over the center of the busy intersection and it was 5 p.m.
Firefighters closed the roads to traffic and set up a safe perimeter, determined not to have a repeat of 11 years ago, when a burning wire fell and ignited a gas main under the sidewalk near there.
Con Ed arrived an hour later and it was fixed within 15 minutes.
