Croton-Harmon High School invited families to an informative Wellness Night.

Croton Harmon High School offered students and their families some guidance for starting the year off right during its Jan. 13 Wellness Night.

“We had two speakers, Dr. Kristy Vanacore and Health Coach Elissa Holzman,” said CHHS health teacher Kerri Tracy. “Dr. Vanacore spoke about the teenage brain and stress. Ms. Holzman gave a great talk on ‘The Not-So-Sweet Truth About Sugar.’”

Students were impressed with Dr. Vanacore’s realistic depiction of what it’s like to be a teenager and said it offered insight to their parents.

Attendees were shocked by the alarming amount of sugar they unknowingly consume each day, even in common items like tomato sauce.

“Afterward, everyone got to create a healthy wrap filled with hummus and fresh vegetables,” said Tracy. “The night was excellent.”
