The 17th annual Hudson River Valley Ramble is on now, featuring more than 225 weekend events throughout the month of September.

“If it’s September, then it’s time to Ramble," said Mark Castiglione, Acting Director of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and Greenway. "It’s amazing to see the tremendous diversity of great events that are offered by our partners each year, and we’re proud to be able to showcase more than 225 exciting Ramble events this year. The Ramble demonstrates that celebrating our natural and cultural resources provides a big boost to our regional economy.”

Each year, The Ramble offers visitors and residents of all ages many opportunities to experience the distinct cultural heritage and landscape of the region, such hiking a trail or following one of the cultural trail excursions, visiting an historic site, or paddling on the river during the Northeast’s most beautiful time of the year. Many events are accessible by Metro-North.

Ramble events are led by naturalists, ecologists, historians, geologists, and trained volunteers from more than 150 organizations. Events include hikes, walking tours, paddling excursions, festivals, historic site tours, and other family friendly activities.

“In this centennial year, the National Park Service is proud to be a partner with the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area in helping people find their park through the diverse experiences offered during the Hudson River Valley Ramble,” said Larry Turk, Superintendent of the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt-VanBuren National Historic Sites, National Park Service.

This month-long celebration is supported by the state administration's commitment to tourism, which recently generated a record-high economic impact of $102 billion in the last year.

Hosted by the Hudson River Valley Greenway and Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, the Hudson River Valley Ramble has an annual economic impact of approximately $21 million.

John D. Judge, President and CEO of the Appalachian Mountain Club said, “We are excited to help sponsor this year’s Ramble and connect more people to outdoor experiences in the Hudson Valley. With our new Harriman Outdoor Center and passionate volunteer leaders, we are committed to increasing outdoor participation in greater New York.”

The Hudson River Valley Ramble is presented by the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and Hudson River Valley Greenway, in partnership with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Hudson River Estuary Program, NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Empire State Development, the National Park Service; sponsored by the Appalachian Mountain Club, the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, Upstater Magazine, and is made possible through the efforts of more than 150 partner organizations.
