Dry, Hot, Haze From Wildfires: Hudson Valley Forecast

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A persistent ridge of unseasonably hot weather will linger over the region through the short work week, with high temperatures 15 to 20 degrees above average. Dry conditions will accompany it.

Plus, a plume of Canadian wildfire smoke is forecast to drift over the area Tuesday and could lead to decreased air quality, the National Weather Service said.

"High temperatures will resemble those of mid-July to early August in many cases," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.

"We have no real rainfall in sight over the next 7 days," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "There are some signs we could see some unsettled weather as we head toward the end of the first week of June... but things look pretty dry until then."

Here's the five-day forecast from the National Weather Service based on northern Westchester:

• Tuesday - Sunny, hazy. Areas of smoke this afternoon. Highs in the lower 70s. East winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Tonight - Hazy with areas of smoke in the evening. Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 40s. East winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Wednesday - Sunny. Highs in the upper 70s. East winds around 5 mph, becoming southeast in the afternoon.
• Wednesday Night - Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 50s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming southwest after midnight.
• Thursday - Sunny. Highs in the mid 80s. Northwest winds around 5 mph, becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.
• Thursday Night - Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 50s.
• Friday - Sunny. Highs in the lower 90s.
• Friday Night - Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy. A chance of showers. Lows in the upper 50s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
• Saturday - Partly sunny. A chance of showers in the afternoon. Cooler with highs in the mid 70s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
• Saturday Night - Partly cloudy with a chance of showers in the evening, then mostly clear after midnight. Lows around 50. Chance of rain 30 percent.
