Fed Grant For Ossining Drinking Water

Water department crews will be using it to replace water mains.

OSSINING, NY —Ossining will receive $1.4 million in federal Environmental Protection Agency grants to help finance a water main replacement project. The funding was awarded through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program, which provides financial support to water systems and to state safe water programs.

“New Yorkers deserve access to safe, reliable drinking water, so we must ensure that our communities have the funding to improve their water infrastructure,” said Rep. Nita Lowey, whose office was first to make the announcement. “These critical resources will allow Ossining to move forward with a water main replacement project that protects water quality and safeguards the health of the community.”

The Ossining Water System provides drinking water for more than 30,000 residents in the village and the unincorporated part of the Town of Ossining.

We are grateful to be partnering with the EPA and New York State to further our ongoing efforts to protect one of our most precious resources.”

Ossining Water Superintendent Andrew Tiess noted that, "The grant will offset more than half the cost of replacing over 3,000 linear feet of water main located in the Town of Ossining, and is integral to the Village of Ossining water distribution system."
