OSSINING, NY — The fire alarm was activated at Claremont School due to smoke caused by a faulty refrigerator motor in the kitchen, Ossining school district officials said. Ossining police asked parents not to go to the school.

The Ossining Fire Department had kids temporarily relocated to either the cafeteria at Anne M. Dorner Middle School or to the Claremont gym.

Now they're back and school is being dismissed as usual.

At the direction of the Fire Department, we relocated students to the Claremont gym and AMD cafeteria. Shortly after that time, the fire department deemed the building safe for all students and staff to return. Dismissal will continue as normal. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
