Friday Night Lights in Ossining: Main Street Will Sparkle May 26

Come see what 50,000 tiny bulbs can do to the trees, enjoy live music and check out local restaurant promotions.

OSSINING, NY — Friday night will be a sparkly one in the village as Ossining’s Downtown Development Fund Council presents an evening of fun and celebration. Everyone's invited to stroll up and down Main Street, where more than 50 trees have been fitted with more than 1,000 LED light sets. Listen to live music, and check out promotions at local restaurants.

This idea is the brainchild of the Downtown Development Fund Council; a Council made up of five volunteers with Trustee Rika Levin as liaison. The mission of this group is to enhance the use and feel of the downtown business area, which is also home to many of Ossining’s residents.

“The idea behind this project is to create a friendlier and more enticing downtown for local businesses and residents, while shining the light on the whole downtown area. We encourage everyone to come and shop downtown … try out the restaurants and sample what our local businesses have to offer,” said Jon Zeltsman, a longtime member of the Council.

Another member, Andy Kaplan added, “We are happy to see this project come to fruition with the generous support of the Village government, local merchants, and the Chamber of Commerce, in a matter of just a few months. We are also planning on highlighting the kickoff of our second major project — Adopt-a-Tree Well. We very much appreciate the work of the Village under the supervision of Interim Village Manager Paul Fraioli, P.E. and Project Manager Omar Herrera.”

The music is being provided by the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce.
