UPDATE: Gearity Wins Ossining Mayor Primary

The fight was over the Democratic Party line on the November ballot.

10AM: Virginia Gearity defeated William Hanauer in the Ossining mayoral primary election yesterday.

With all election districts reporting, Gearity received 686 votes; Hanauer received 420, according to unofficial results from the Westchester Board of Elections.

Ossining village trustee Virginia Gearity was outpolling Mayor William Hanauer in the Democratic mayoral primary, according to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections.

At 11 p.m. the tally was 436 for Gearity to 313 for Hanauer with 13 of 17 districts reporting.

Hanauer will still appear on the November ballot, because he has the Working Families Party line. Gearity will have the Democratic and Independence Party lines. There is no Republican candidate for mayor.
