Granddad's Grenade Brought To Ossining Police

If you find any old ordnance when cleaning out the attic, just call, OPD says.

OSSINING, NY — Ossining police closed Academy Place for a while Tuesday afternoon after a grenade arrived in a resident's car.

The end of the story is that all is well. The moral of the story is if for any reason you find an old weapon — be it a Luger, a land mine, a samurai sword or a hand grenade — be very careful not to touch or disturb it, and call the police department and tell them.

From their Facebook post, it sounds as if while the OPD was gratified to be seen as go-to guys for grenades, they would rather not have to close down the area until the bomb squad arrives.
