Hazardous Heat This Weekend, Storms Sunday, Monday In The HV

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Hazardous Weather Outlooks and Excessive Heat Warnings have been issued for today as dangerous heat is expected as it could feel as hot as 110 degrees while outdoors. Thunderstorms are possible starting Sunday, which will help break this excessive heat wave; and cooler weather is expected on Monday with more thunderstorms possible then.

Wednesday through next Friday look brilliant with sunshine and temps in the mid 80s, which is much more comfortable than what we'll deal with this weekend.

An Excessive Heat Warning is now in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday for the Hudson Valley. The heat index will be up to around 110 degrees while the air temperature will be in the mid 90s.

• HEAT INDEX - Up to around 110.
• TIMING - Through 8 pm Sunday.
• IMPACTS - Extreme heat can cause illness and death among at- risk population who cannot stay cool. The excessive heat may quickly cause heat stress or heat stroke.

Always call the cooling center to make sure it is open before you attempt to visit it.

There is a concern about brownouts and power outages.
