Hazardous Outlooks Updated For The Hudson Valley

Here's the latest on what we can expect and when.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The National Weather Service updated its Hazardous Weather Outlook for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties at 3 a.m. Wednesday. It also issued one for Dutchess and Ulster counties.

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester:

Heavy rainfall may be possible Thursday into Thursday evening. A cold front will approach from the west and a tropical moisture plume will stream in from the south between offshore high pressure and Michael, which is expected to be a tropical storm moving through the Southeast states at that time.

For Dutchess and Ulster:

Today and tonight: Showers and isolated thunderstorms with locally heavy downpours are expected beginning late tonight due to a warm, humid, and tropical air mass ahead of a cold front. Some urban and poor drainage flooding of low lying areas and ponding of water on roadways is possible where higher rainfall rates occur. An isolated flash flood is possible if any heavy showers or isolated thunderstorms repeatedly move over the same area.
Thursday through Tuesday: Showers and isolated thunderstorms with locally heavy downpours are expected through Thursday due to a warm, humid, and tropical air mass ahead of a cold front. The NWS expects 1 to 1.5 inches of rain will fall through Friday, with locally higher amounts possible.
