UPDATE: High Wind Advisory for the Hudson Valley: National Weather Service
The NWS ended its High Wind Warning Thursday for Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, the Advisory extends till 6 p.m.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service cancelled its High Wind Warning and issued a Wind Advisory.
It is in effect till 6 p.m.
* Winds...Northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
* Timing...through 6 pm.

The National Weather Service updated its High Wind Warning at 3:15 a.m. Thursday.
It is in effect until 7 p.m. for Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties. It is in effect until 11 a.m. for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

Gusts of 54 mph were clocked at Stewart Airport at 3:45 a.m. Westchester Airport reported 44 mph winds at 4:16 a.m.
* Winds...West 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 to 60 mph.
* Timing...Strongest winds this morning.
* Impacts...Strong winds can blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
Thousands of customers are without power as the winds follow the cold front sweeping far-above-average temperatures out of the region.
