OSSINING, NY — As the new year begins, our local officials are still busy conducting the public's business in plain sight.

There are plenty of upcoming chances to help tend to our democracy close to the roots. Several public meetings are scheduled for this week involving issues of interest to Croton-on-Hudson and Ossining residents.

In Croton, the Planning Board meets at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Municipal Building on Van Wyck Street. Three applications are on the agenda:

The Ossining village Board of Trustees holds a Legislative Meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Municipal Building at 16 Croton Ave.
The Ossining town Planning Board meets at 7:30 Wednesday.
The Cortlandt town Zoning Board meets at 6 p.m. Thursday. On the agenda: the proposed Mariott Hotel near Route 6 and the Bear Mountain Parkway.
The Croton-Harmon Board of Education meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
