Hudson Valley Hazardous Outlooks: Weekend Wintry Mix

Here are the latest details.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A low-pressure system will bring the classic wintry mix to the region from late-night Friday into Saturday afternoon, and the National Weather Service has issued one hazardous outlook for Orange and Putnam counties and another for Dutchess and Ulster.

For Dutchess and Ulster: A low-pressure system will move eastward across the region Saturday into Saturday night. This system is expected to bring a light accumulation of snow and sleet transitioning to freezing rain and or plain rain. A light glaze of ice is possible in parts of the eastern Catskills and central and southern Taconics. Winter weather advisories will likely be needed later in time for the combination of snow and the wintry mix.

For Orange and Putnam: The hazardous outlook forecasts sleet and snow starting Saturday morning into Saturday afternoon, transitioning to freezing rain and rain in the evening. There is potential for less than an inch of snow and sleet accumulation, and a light glazing of ice, the NWS said.
