Cortlandt Manor, NY - (May 29, 2014) – Hudson Valley Hospital Center has dedicated a new boutique to serve the health and beauty needs of women with cancer.
The boutique named "Ginger’s Place" was officially opened on May 29 during the Hospital’s annual Survivor Day celebration in honor of cancer survivors. Ginger’s Place will be run by a local company Specialty Fittings and will provide custom wig and bras as well as beauty products and care information for women undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The boutique was made possible with the generous support of Hospital Board member Michael Delfino and his wife, Ginger of Montrose.
“It is very fitting that we dedicate this boutique as part of our Survivor Day celebration. As a comprehensive cancer center, our primary mission is to provide not only medical treatment, but emotional and social support to our patients,’’ said Hudson Valley Hospital President John Federspiel. “We cannot thank Mike and Ginger Delfino enough for making it possible for us to offer this additional support to our patients and to all women undergoing cancer treatment.’’

Cortlandt Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi presented the Delfinos with a certificate from the Town of Cortlandt honoring the couple for their many years of philanthropy and community service.
Anne Campbell-Maxwell, Director of Oncology at the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Cancer Center, said the Hospital holds the event each year to provide cancer survivors with a chance to celebrate the spirit of hope and courage with friends, family, and one another.

“This is an opportunity for them to connect and share these experiences with other cancer survivors, friends and family,’’ she said. “It is a very moving event."
June is National Cancer Survivors Month, a time when many hospitals and cancer support organizations hold events in solidarity with America’s 13.5 million cancer survivors. A 'survivor' is anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life," according to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation.
