Hudson Valley Workforce Academy Offers New Session in Healthcare Analytics

The sessions will explore how data and healthcare analytics are used to inform operations and drive better outcomes for patients and costs.

With the information explosion and technology that is rapidly changing the workplace, employers are demanding their employees show greater familiarity with data analytics, experts at the Westchester County Association say.

In response to demand, the WCA is offering another five-week program in Healthcare Analytics through its Hudson Valley Workforce Academy.

This will be the third class offered in this subject.

The first class in 2015 enrolled 40 participants from 13 healthcare organizations in the region; the feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.

Beginning June 29, Healthcare Analytics will be offered again by the Academy at WCA headquarters, 1133 Westchester Avenue, White Plains, every Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm, for five weeks.

All courses offered by the Hudson Valley Workforce Academy are developed in collaboration with the region’s employers, and focus on training the existing workforce in high-demand skills. Instructors are industry and healthcare professionals with special expertise in digital innovation, Big Data, data mining, and health informatics. Many teach at nearby colleges such as Iona College, Fordham and Pace universities, and sessions are also taught by industry professionals such as Deloitte.

The courses are geared for those with little or no experience with analytics and will instruct them about how to use Big Data in their decision-making. The interactive sessions will explore how data and healthcare analytics are used to inform operations and drive outcomes such as enhanced profitability, lower costs, and improved patient outcomes. A certificate will be provided upon completion of the course.

The cost is $595 per person, and registration and additional information is available at at www.westchester.org

“We developed the Academy as part of a broader workforce development initiative to address the critical need for skilled workers and help fill the 2,500+ critical job vacancies in the healthcare, technology, and business sectors in this region,” said Amy Allen, WCA Vice President and Academy Executive Director, in a press statement. “This is one of the ways we are upgrading the skills of our existing workforce, and further developing the talent pool in the region.”
