Inauguration, Planning Board Meetings: Croton, Ossining Week Of Jan. 1

OSSINING, NY — As the new year begins, our local officials are still busy conducting the public's business in plain sight.

John Adams famously wrote, "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right … and a desire to know."

There are plenty of upcoming chances to help tend to our democracy close to the roots. Several goverment events are scheduled for this week in Croton-on-Hudson and Ossining.

On Jan. 1, Ossining will hold an inauguration ceremony at the Joseph Caputo Community Center. To be sworn in: Elizabeth Feldman as Ossining Town Supervisor and Jennifer Fields-Tawil as a town council member; plus for Ossining village: Mayor Rika Levin and trustees Dana White and Manuel Quezada. The public is invited.
