Investigation Continues into Firefighter's Death
Services were yesterday for the 20-year-old killed trying to stop a fight at a big New Year's Eve party in Orange County.
Police are still investigating the murder of Jason Speights, a 20-year-old who was stabbed as he tried to break up a fight at a New Year’s Eve party in Crawford.
Fundreds of people including firefighters from across the region packed Transformation Church Friday for his funeral.
Speights had joined the Silver Lake Fire Department at 16. He was posthumously promoted to First Lieutenant, according to the Times Herald Record.

He was a 2014 graduate of Pine Bush High School, where he played football.
Silver Lake Fire Department is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the homicide. Anyone with information should call state police at 344-5300.
